Selvatura Sloth Habitat

In close collaboration with the Caribbean Sloth Sanctuary, Selvatura Park showcases the sloth, one of Costa Rica´s most iconic animals in a carefully designed exhibit that replicates their natural habitat and that is home to 20 sleepy, slow-moving, tree-dwelling individuals.

This is the sanctuary where time takes on a new meaning and invites quiet contemplation of these extraordinary mammals.

Enjoy a guided tour of the exhibit to learn about this emblematic species, its habits, and why it doesn´t go anywhere very quickly.  Observe these sloths from a stressless distance as they roam among the trees and foliage of the exhibition with freedom and in safety.  Not only will you fall in love with our sloths, but the sanctuary is also a way that Selvatura Park supports education and promotes environmental conservation.

These beautiful mammals arrived at our sanctuary having been rescued from the effects of poaching, habitat destruction, illness, and accidents among other reasons that now prevent them from being reintroduced to their natural habitat.  For this reason, the Selvatura Sloth Habitat is very dear to our hearts and part of our ongoing mission to protect and preserve this recently-named national symbol.
